To My Friends in Tribes Hill,

Many thanks for your support of my successful grassroots quest for a seat on the Northeast Regional Folk Alliance (NERFA) board of directors.  The large number of nominations submitted from throughout the region impressed the folks in Philadelphia and meant a lot to me.

In my statement of candidacy, which did not get distributed to Folk Alliance members from our region (since I wound up filling a vacancy on the board, negating the need for an election), I wrote, in part: "As much as we all look forward to the annual conference -- and as much effort as that entails -- I believe that NERFA can do much more to serve performers, presenters & others in our community year-round.  We can enhance the organization's value through putting in place mechanisms to encourage ongoing dialogue, networking and information-sharing."

At my urging, the board is creating a new task force that will delve into ways to embrace e-technology in a more sustained and effective manner to build on the wonderful spirit of community that so characterized this year's conference and to help foster ongoing communications, networking and information-sharing among NERFA members.  As task force co-chair, I would welcome your ideas and participation.

I'd also like to particularly thank Tribes Hill members Fred Gillen Jr., Lara Herscovitch, Matt Turk, Anthony da Costa, Steve Chizmadia, Arlon Bennett, and my fellow Long Islander (and new member of  the Tribe) Phil Minissale for participating in the AcousticMusicScene.com Midnight Hoot and late-night guerilla showcases that Glen Roethel and I hosted  during NERFA.  We look forward to hosting these again next year and to involving even more of you in them.

Again, thanks for your support, and I hope to see you in Mount Kisco on the 16th.

could you post directions to Hammond House on your site?  When I look up on Google Maps it shows the address right in center of Sprain Parkway!

There was a strong turnout in the democratic convention... to all who voted, awesome!  If you are in the 19th district, check out John Hall for congress.....

HI all. Just wanted to mention again that I am a member of Tribes Hill and a bass playervocalist who works at VERY reasonable rates (believe me). I work with Kathleen Pemble, have recently recorded a song with Susan Kane, and worked with very many artists.  I absolutely love our organization at Tribes Hill. You can visit my website mentioned below for a more detailed sketch of my career.  So if you need bass, I'm the one.

Thanks.  Have a great summer...

I just wanted to let everyone know that we have an amazing classical/ flamenco guitarist/ composer right in Westchester.  His second CD came out last year and it is really beautiful.  You can get it at the link below, CD Baby.  13 heart-felt, original and traditional pieces performed live-in-the studio with passion and grace.  I listen to this CD often and get serenity and peace from it... Check it out.

Thanks Roah.
I was one of those four and the others were Steve Kirkman, Matt Turk, and Steve Chizmadia.  We'll see you again down the road...

Recently, I saw four of your songwriters in Shepherdstown, WV at the "New Song Festival".  I was impressed by the sincerty of a couple of the men.  I could thell their songs were "from the heart" and not about entertainment.  I liked what one man said about people not being dehumanized...that happens so much in our world right now.  Your website has some interesting thoughts; the river, the call ot come together; made one?  It sound like your heart is truly stirred. Could there actually be a way to come out of the world and all of its vain, selfish pursuits?  I believe that many people, all over the face of the earth can sense that somethings amiss with the way man has progressed.  An people are searching for a way to live accoding to their heart.  I really would like to spend time with some of your people.  I live in a community in Hillsboro, VA...but we have several sister communities near the Hudson River in New York State.  I think that you are near there. I would like to invite you to visit them.  I believe that you would see something that you have never seen before...we are learning to live together in unity.  It's pretty amazing!  I can't remember the names of the men that sang, but I wanted to invite them specifically, in Shepherdstown.
                                Thanks,
Roah, the Community in Hillsboro, VA
