Music at the Mansion is proud to present an all-Westchester show with local artists Julie Corbalis, Fred Gillen Jr., and Matt Turk. This show will be presented "in the round": all three musicians will share the stage and take turns playing songs (and occasionally help each other out).
Based in Port Chester, JULIE CORBALIS has been performing since 1996 and has recorded five albums to date: two with her band Jules & The Family (Jules & The Family, 2005; Border Radio, 2007), two as a solo performer (Old Flames And New Names, 2008; Songs In A Bottle, 2013), and one as a collaborative effort with other local musicians (Backwoods Jupiter Presents Bob Dylan's Desire, 2011). She has the opportunity to open for a number of well-established musical acts such as Colin Hay (Men at Work), Amy Correia, Mickey Hart, Jeffrey Gaines, Gandalf Murphy and the Slambovian Circus of Dreams, Sarah Lee Guthrie and Johnny Irion.
FRED GILLEN JR. has received a NYFA (New York Foundation For The Arts) grant, has released nine full-length albums, and has toured all over the U.S. and Europe. His songs have been featured on ABC's "All My Children," NPR's "Car Talk," and CMJ's New Music Marathon Sampler. In 2012, his version of Woody Guthrie's "I Ain't Got No Home" was featured on "Pete Remembers Woody," a collection of Pete Seeger's spoken stories about Woody Guthrie. Like Guthrie, his songs often reflect the struggles of the marginalized and forgotten, shining a light on both the despair and hope in the human condition.
Based in Hastings-on-Hudson, MATT TURK is a veteran performer who has engaged audiences around the world, both as a rocking bandleader and an acoustic folk troubadour. He has shared the stage with Pete Seeger and opened for Judy Collins, The Doobie Brothers, Fiona Apple, The Grateful Dead's Mickey Hart and more. He has performed throughout the U.S.A., Europe, Israel and the Caribbean, appearing at festivals and venues including Clearwater's Great Hudson River Revival, the Gathering of the Vibes, Atlanta's Music Midtown, Jazz at Lincoln Center, The Beacon Theatre and Brooklyn Bowl.
Tickets for this show are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Doors open at 7PM. Refreshments are available at the show, including beer and wine.
