Tribes Hill’s Songwriting Workshop Series

Tribes Hill is proud to announce its fourth Songwriting Workshop series for the New York metro and lower Hudson Valley areas. If you already have some song-playing skills and a curiosity to go further, or feel like you’re songwriting has hit a plateau, this series is an opportunity to:

· Build confidence to express yourself in a supportive environment
· Develop your songcraft and explore lyric voices
· Access places inside where songs come from

The Details:

8 sessions meeting Sundays from 3 to 5:30 in Hartsdale, NY, with a concluding performance for family and friends.
Sessions will run from January 21 to March 11.


Full series: 8 sessions: $360

KJ Denhert,

Her blend of urban folk and jazz has earned her 4 Independent Music Award nominations and has been named one of’s top female vocalists. Performing since the 1970s she has been top-billed at venues around the world.

Abbie Gardner,

Founding member of renowned Americana group Red Molly and soloist with her iconic dobro slide guitar, songwriter of tales of love and loss, both gritty and sweet.

Jay Hitt,

Multi-award winning songwriter/performer from Pittsburgh. Writes of the simple joys found in everyday life with crisp, delicate acoustic melodies.

Burr Johnson,

Burr is a guitar phenom and jazz-fusion bandleader. He’s played with and wowed BB King, Bruce Springsteen and Les Paul. He’s also a great teacher. His ears are very special. He will hear things in your music that will lift you.

Judy Kass,

Her original music blends folk, jazz and blues with songs that cover the full gamut of mood and experience. Judy’s albums have topped Folk and Roots radio charts and she has been a finalist in a number of song competitions.

David Massengill,

Emigrated with his dulcimer from Tennessee to the Greenwich Village folk scene in 1976. Mentored by Dave Van Ronk. Recorded by Dave Bromberg, Joan Baez, The Roches, and many others. Songs archived by the prestigious Southern Folklife Collection.

Glen Roethel,

Founder and former primary songwriter of Gathering Time, award-winning singer-songwriter, co-writer, and session vocalist/musician - Glen writes honest, personal songs with a sharp focus on clarity and simplicity. A highly inclusive performer, Glen is also known to energize roomfuls of musicians and listeners.

Over the years, in my work, I’ve guided folks toward the felt-sense of things, that river which impels our thinking thoughts. So when I started creating songs a decade ago I trusted in this process, and it’s been… fecund. This is the 4th in this Tribes Hill series and I’m proud to be associated with it.
